World Kidney Day 2025 Observed in Tura
Tura Christian Hospital observed World Kidney Day 2025 with a series of activities aimed at promoting awareness about kidney health and encouraging early detection of kidney disease among the community.
As part of the programme, a free kidney screening camp was organised, providing members of the public with an opportunity to undergo basic evaluation for kidney-related risk factors. The initiative focused on identifying individuals who may be at increased risk of chronic kidney disease and on educating participants about the importance of regular health checks, blood pressure control, diabetes management, adequate hydration, and other measures that contribute to maintaining kidney health.
To further promote public awareness and community participation, a marathon race was also organised in Tura as part of the World Kidney Day celebrations. The event brought together participants from different sections of the community and helped spread the message that a healthy and active lifestyle plays an important role in preventing non-communicable diseases, including kidney disease.
The combined programme of free kidney screening and the marathon race created an effective platform for both health education and community engagement. It also highlighted the importance of preventive nephrology, particularly in a region where many patients with kidney disease continue to present at an advanced stage.
Through the observance of World Kidney Day 2025, Tura Christian Hospital reaffirmed its commitment to kidney disease prevention, early detection, public awareness, and accessible renal care for the people of Tura and the wider Garo Hills region.
